OLTD Learning Outcome:
Evidence: Summary of Learning video describing my learning and experiences with Connectivism and Community of Inquiry.
Context of Evidence in Relation to the Outcome: In the video I describe how my collaboration with colleagues contributes student success in online learning environments. I used Camtasia as a tool to create the video. The work of George Siemens and Stephen Downes on the learning theory of Connectivism describes the enhanced learning that occurs connections between students, with resources and with a guiding instructor. The growth of online connections has increased the capacity for learning.
Context of the Learning Outcome in Relation to my Teaching Practice: I see the theory of Connectivism and the Community of Inquiry (CoI) model as closely related. AS OLTD progressed, I began to pay close attention to the presences in CoI - social presence, teaching presence and cognitive presence. I want my students to feel that they are part of a community in my courses. I want to guide them to achieve learning outcomes that are personally meaningful for them. And, I want them to achieve meaningful learning through discourse and sustained reflection.
